The Kadapa Police has been prepping themselves for the coming elections. They have identified as many as 27 villages as sensitive villages and many special arrangements are being made with the setting up of police pickets.

Rahuldev Sarma, the Superintendent of Police was transferred by the Central Election Commission and Abhishek Mohanthi was posted in his place. On Friday, he assumed charge with a meeting cautioning them to ensure a safe, peaceful and free election.

Many special teams have been deployed to keep a check on vehicular traffic and to make the people of the village aware of the upcoming elections.

With the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) in place, police seized an unauthorised cash of Rs 2,08,24,100 and sarees, gold ornaments etc worth around Rs 1,33,65,642.

The polling stations have been divided into two categories, Critical and normal. They identified 27 villages and 474 polling booths are critical that require special security arrangements.

They have seized around 200 liters of liquor worth Rs. 82,000 and 1,546 gram silver valued at Rs 42,000. Any violation of election code of conduct would be punishable, the senior police officers cautioned.

Vehicles have been getting checked since Saturday. Candidates from various political parties have to take prior permission from the police to use a vehicle for the purpose of election campaigns.

A senior police officer said that they will take a look back at the 2014 election’s trouble mongers. So far, police listed 2,063 cases and bind over 17,230 persons identified.

Some constituencies that have been labeled critical are Jammalamadugu, Kamalapuram, Mydukur and Pulivendula and the police are taking out patrols in the night as well in these places. Many security arrangements have been made to tackle these crucial constituencies.

A total of 1479 private licensed weapons have been deposited by police in which 97 belong to bankers.
