The Leader of the Opposition Andhra Pradesh Assembly and YSR Congress Party President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy slammed Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu over the injustice he had done to the Santhanuthalapadu constituency in the election rally held here, on Friday.

The YSRCP Chief recalled that Ramatheertham and Gundlakamma projects were constructed under the reign of Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy. Chandrababu has failed in getting water from the Sagar project located in the neighbouring state.

The Gundlakamma project was completed long ago but the work related to canals to utilise the water for irrigation is still pending and the compensation is yet to be received in the 12 mandals by the farmers.

YS Jagan observed that the tobacco farmers are facing problems like lack of investment, minimum support price is not enough for them to make the ends meet. He reminded people at the election rally that it was YSRCP, which fought for the minimum support price for tobacco.

The YSRCP chief mentioned the hardships being faced by the farmers in terms of minimum support prices to the crops chiefly grown in the area, namely Toor dal or Pigeon pea (Kandi) was Rs 4000 per quintal, now has fallen drastically, Subabul was Rs 4000 per quintal and now it is Rs 2000, Chickpea (Senagalu) was Rs 4000 now it is below Rs 3500 only.

YS Jagan pointed out that the unemployment rate is high like never before. In this particular constituency many of granite quarries are closing down along with the polishing units. In this district out of the 1100 polishing units, almost 400 are on the brink of closing down.

YS Jagan revealed that Chandrababu has increased the price of royalty on big granite stone was Rs 1900 now it shot up to Rs 5200, on the small stone it was Rs 660 and it has been raised to Rs 1755. The power per unit was Rs 3.75 it stands at Rs 8.75. He questioned how an industry could flourish under such conditions when the government is levying heavy charges.

The YSRCP Chief observed that Chandrababu boasts that 40,00,000 jobs have been provided in the past five years and Chandrababu claims Rs 20,00,000 crore worth investments.

YS Jagan urged the people to vote for Dr Sudhakar contesting as the MLA from Santhanuthalapadu and Nandigama Suresh as Lok Sabha candidate from Bapatla.
