CISF To Guard Sensitive Polling Booths In Nellore

Nellore: The police department has made a decision to deploy the CISF(Central Industrial Security Force) to guard as many as 533 critical polling locations during the elections that are yet to come at the Nellore District. One special striking force in every segment, two quick reaction teams in every mandal are in addition to the CISF besides the mobile forces are being deployed for 5 to sectors in every Mandal.

Superintendent of Police Ishwarya Rastogi, while speaking to a local daily said that the latest and second generation of body-worn cameras that have a facility to insert SIM cards to ensure evidence for taking action against those creating trouble.

The SP Said that there are over 2839 polling stations in as many as 1767 locations across the district and 533 have been identified as critical. Model Code of Conduct (MCC) has been implemented very strictly and over 61 cases have been booked for Violation of the MCC. Rs 1.01 crore cash, 1405.93 liters of liquor worth Rs 7.88 lakhs, Rs 40.76 lakhs worth of Gutka, 5180 sarees worth Rs 15.18 lakhs have been seized to prevent the distribution of cash or gifts to the voters.

Also among the seized items for the violation of the MCC were 60 bicycles, 3 cars, 5 autos, 3 lorries, two Volvo buses worth Rs 1.24 crore and 49 bikes. Rs 47,000 worth of Ganja weighing 18 kgs was seized apart from electronic goods and mobiles worth Rs 1 crore. They had also seized two swords form a man hailing from Tamil Nadu under unlicensed arms category.

The c-vigil app can be made use of to register any complaints, said the SP. He also asked the people to call toll free numbers 100 or 0861-1950 for complaints and information on poll-related matters.
