Late MP and minister YS Vivekananda Reddy's daughter, Sunitha Reddy said that malicious propaganda following her father's murder was only rubbing salt into the wounds of the family. Addressing the media, she said that while family members were mourning the loss of their elder, media on Wednesday at Pulivendula, was indulging in baseless propaganda which she described as trash.

Sunitha Reddy added that her father was deeply connected with the people of Pulivendula and that he always held their interests paramount. She reiterated the fact that the late YS Vivekananda Reddy wished to see his nephew YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy as the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh. It was with this objective in mind that he was carrying out canvassing for YSRCP, she pointed out. It was also for this reason that he chose to remain in Pulivendula all by himself, she said.

Sunitha Reddy remarked that her father campaigned extensively for YSRCP in the area around Pulivendula in recent weeks and was always amidst the masses. He was much loved by them, she recalled. Vivekananda Reddy's daughter clarified that her mother stayed with her because of her ill-health. Sunitha Reddy said that as long as her father lived, he led a life of great dignity. "While we are grieving his death, there are all kinds of stories being put out by the media which have no basis and which are only adding to our grief," she said.

Her father had been brutally murdered and she, along with other members of her family wanted an impartial investigation, she said. The Special Investigation Team (SIT) should be allowed to function freely and conduct its probe in a fair manner, she added. Media reports said that there were differences in her family, but these are untrue, she said. There are more than 700 members in their family, she said.
