TDP MP from Anantapur JC Diwakar Reddy is reportedly upset with the selection process with respect to Assembly elections 2019. JC predicted that he would face certain defeat unless three of the sitting MLAs were changed. At a meeting with the TDP screening committee on Friday, JC is reported to have said that unless three sitting MLAs are changed it would not be possible for the ruling party to retain its Anantapur seat. He is also said to have told the party leadership that he would distance himself from the upcoming Lok Sabha elections if his suggestions were ignored. Jc wanted tickets to be given to some of his preferred candidates whose names he proposed to the TDP leadership. He sought a change in the representation of Lalyanadurgam, Guntakal and Singanamala constituencies.

The Anantapur TDP strongman criticised the party leadership after finishing his interaction with the screening committee. He emerged looking grim and left immediately. Later, he told the media that he had suggested for change of 3 sitting MLAs and brought the facts of the case to Chandrababu Naidu's notice. He took a dig at the screening committee saying that they cited A,B,C reasons. If the party did not heed his counsel, he would have to rethink the idea of contesting from Anantapur, he said. Further, he said that while the sitting MLA Yamini Bala wanted to be renominated for the Singanamala (SC reserved) constituency, JC said he had proposed the name of Sravani for this seat.
