Kurnool: Kurnool district has been adding to the woes of Andhra Pradesh chief minister and TDP supremo, Chandrababu Naidu. The Nandyal parliament seat is becoming a prickly issue with several other problems in the district. TDP leaders are believed to be upset with the style of functioning of minister Bhuma Akhila Priya. It may be recalled that she had won on a YSR Congress Party ticket and defected to the ruling TDP. She is among the 23 turncoat MLAs, 4 of whom have been made ministers.

Addressing a rally in Nandyal on Wednesday, Akhila Priya is said to have remarked that though some leaders tried to persuade the TDP leadership against fielding her, Chandrababu himself called her and gave the party ticket to her. Other TDP leaders NMD Farooq, S.P.Y Reddy and AV Reddy are reported to be furious with Akhila Priya for her remarks at the rally. They questioned her on how she could announce that the TDP leadership had given her the ticket when in fact, there was no official statement.

The Nandyal TDP leaders are reported to have complained to the party supremo Chandrababu Naidu on the matter. The situation in Kurnool district is such that the sitting MLA of Kurnool, SV Mohan Reddy, minister Akhila Priya and sitting MLA of Nandyal Bhuma Brahmananda Reddy are among the contenders of the party ticket, for the Kurnool seat while MP TG Venkatesh has been summoned by Chandrababu Naidu. Nandikotkuru and Kodumuru seats are also emerging as a sore point for the party chief it is learnt, with TDP leaders divided among themselves.
