Hyderabad: Telangana power utilities claimed that an amount of Rs 2,406 Crore was due from their Andhra Pradesh counterparts towards power supply dues.

Addressing a press conference on Friday, TS Transco and Genco CMD D Prabhakar Rao alleged that AP Power utilities took a decision without proper consultation with TS Transco and filed a case in the National Company Law Tribunal, stating that Telangana owes them about Rs 5,000 Crore in lieu of power purchases.

Prabahakar said there could be a possibility of miscommunication among officials. He felt that that Andhra counterparts would not have made such allegations about the due amount of Rs 5,000 Crore from Telangana .But as per Transco's calculation, they owe us Rs 2,406 Crore, he said. He also alleged that the Telangana power companies never responded to their request for settlement.

The AP power utilities was also running a misinformation campaign on the issue, he claimed. The TS-Transco CMD said they (TS utilities) had filed a counter pointing out that they should first approach the Electricity Regulatory Commission as per jurisdiction to deal with such issues before approaching the National Company Law Tribunal.
