Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy Not To Contest Polls On TDP Ticket

Amaravati: The exodus of leaders from ruling TDP to the YSR Congress Party, continues unabated. At the same time, candidates are not prepared to contest in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

It is learnt that a close associate of Andhra Pradesh chief minister, Chandrababu Naidu, and Rajahmundry MP, Murali Mohan and Lok Sabha member from Kakinada, Thota Narsimham are reluctant to contest in the upcoming elections.

Meanwhile, former MP and MLC, Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy gave another jolt to the TDP and is believed to have told the AP chief minister that he would not contest the elections.

He is also reported to have asked Chandrababu not to force him to contest him this time around.

Magunta's meeting with Jana Sena founder, Pawan Kalyan assumed significance in the light of his reluctance to contest on a TDP ticket. Magunta however, clarified that his interaction with Pawan did not have any political bearing.

The ruling TDP is reported to be scouting for candidates willing to contest on its ticket in many districts. The selection of party candidates for the Lok Sabha is being deferred by the TDP leadership for about a month now.

This is because of the unwillingness of candidates to step forward. In some places, the TDP has not been able to zero in on a candidate of the required stature. With candidates showing their preference to contest for the assembly, it is learnt that the TDP is finding it difficult to persuade candidates to run for the parliament.
