Amaravati: Senior YSR Congress Party leader Dharmana Prasada Rao asserted that it was due to the welfare schemes introduced by the late Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy that youth got weaned away from extremism. It was on account of the pioneering healthcare initiative Arogyasri, introduced by Dr. YSR, that the poor could get access to corporate medical care, he pointed out. The deprived sections of scoiety had never dreamt of getting access to corporate healthcare and it was Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy who made it possible, he said.

The senior YSR Congress Party leader addressed the media here on Sunday. Dharmana criticised Andhra Pradesh chief minister Chandrababu Naidu for going back on many of his election promises including DWCRA loan waivers to women's groups. Promising to waive Rs.5 lakhs, the AP CM is doling out Rs.3,000 in the name of the Pasupu-Kumkuma scheme, he said. Dharmana remarked that Chandrababu resorted to such gimmicks as elections were around the corner.

Dharmana observed that Chandrababu Naidu enjoyed the dubious distinction of having cheated the women of Andhra Pradesh in this manner. The senior YSRCP leader also questioned the rationale behind Chandrababu claiming earlier that PM Modi had given the highest amount of funds to the state and changing his tune now saying that the Prime Minister and BJP had cheated Andhra Pradesh. PM Modi himself had stated that Chandrababu was neck-deep in corruption, Dharmana said. He questioned the logic of the TDP supremo sitting on a protest, calling it "Dharma Porata Deeksha" in Visakhapatnam. What could Chandrababu hope to gain from such so-called protests?, Dharmana asked.
