TDP MLA Bala Krishna Gets High Court Notice

Amaravati: High Court issues a notice to actor turned politician and Hindupuram MLA Balakrishna, responding over a petition filed against him, that he has allegedly distributed money to the people in the road show, during the Nandyal by-elections. The court has also ordered the Central election commission to file a counter along with all the details, here on Friday.

K Shiva Kumar has filed a petition against Balakrishna for going against the law and distributing money to the public. The petition claimed that TDP MLA Balakrishna should be booked under the Representation of People’s Act.

Defence lawyer Yaramreddy Nagi Reddy presented his argument that Balakrishna has breached the model code of conduct during the elections and he is liable for punishment. He added that the responsibility of prosecuting him lies with the Election Commission.

Justice opined that Balakrishna should be given a chance to explain himself before the Court and issued a notice to him. Court has also ordered the Election Commission to file a counter furnishing all the details regarding the act. Justice Akula Ventaka Sesha Sai, Justice Somayajulu had issued the orders.  The next hearing is going to take place in four weeks.
