Krishna District: As part of the NTR Gruhakalpa scheme, the TDP government which had constructed a colony for poor in Komaravolu village, Pamarru Mandal in Krishna district, has named the colony after the Chief Minister N Chandrababu's only grandson Nara Devaansh. Apparently his wife Bhuvaneshwari had adopted this village in 2015 as it was her mother, Basavatarakam's home town. The village has a population of more than 2200 people and she has visited the village and made a report of what was needed for the further development of the place, which was presented to the state government. Apart from the funds sanctioned, NRIs and the local villagers also donated funds for the development.

After which Bhuvaneswari was using these funds along with funds donated by the ZPTC members to build toilets for the villagers. The government also released Rs 45.50 lakhs to build better service roads, Rs 4.40 Crores for underground drainages’, Rs 2.06 Crore for Cement roads in the colony and Rs 1.70 crore to convert 1.7 kilometres of the Zilla Parishad road into a cement road.

Apart from this, the Departments of Endowments had released Rs 38 lakhs for the repairs and reconstruction of a 150 year old temple in the village and to this, the villagers also added another Rs 15 lakhs. Another Rs 25 lakhs for a new Panchayath office building and Rs 15 lakhs for the Mahila Sadhikaratha (women welfare) building were released.

To provide houses for the villagers who were below the poverty line, 250 houses are being built under the NTR Gruhakalpa scheme, where a sum of Rs 1.50 lakhs was spent on each house. As of now 150 houses are in various stages of construction and 54 of these houses have been completed. To enhance the houses the allottees have also added their personal funds for their houses and without even spending a pie from their own pocket, the Chief Minister and his wife have named the colony after their grandson Devaansh as Devaansh Colony by putting up a flexi at the entrance to the colony.

The villagers have remained tight-lipped about naming the colony after Chandrababu’s grandson despite the officials of the Housing department saying that no names should be attributed to the colony built under the NTR Gruhakalpa Scheme.
