Hyderabad: Reputed Tollywood and Bollywood director, Ram Gopal Varma asked his critics to understand the meaning of the Vennupotu song in his upcoming film, Lakshmi NTR and then have a rational discussion with him. They seem to be reacting as if they were suffering from the weight of a guilty conscience, he said. They cannot come up with a counter argument and are burning his effigies instead, he commented.

RGV Remarked that many people had access to the photographs he had used. They were in public domain and therefore he did not know what these TDP followers were complaining about. He pointed out that he had not name any individual. RGV cited the example of the biopic Gandhi made by Richard Attenborough.He said that the film had to include the assassination of the Father of the nation to be authentic. If negative shades are not included, the movie cannot be called a biopic, RGV said.

The well-known director observed that political parties hurled invective and abuse of the vilest kind in the recently concluded elections in real time in front of large audiences, but when it came to a movie, they had objections! RGV clarified that his film, Lakshmi's NTR is an unbiased biopic centering on the life of the iconic star turned politician from the time that Lakshmi Parvathi came into his life. As a film-maker he wanted to present a slice of reality to the audiences, RGV remarked. The song, 'Vennupotu' focused on the theme of scheming and back-stabbing. RGV said that NTR himself recalled on countless occasions that he was stabbed in the back by Chandrababu Naidu. In fact, NTR was also stabbed in the back by Nadendla Bhaskara Rao, he pointed out.
