New Delhi: The YSR Congress party (YSRCP) MPs are continuing their protests for Special Category Status (SCS) to Andhra Pradesh here, in and outside the Rajya Sabha, on the occasion of the winter session of the Parliament. On Thursday, the party MPs Vijayasai Reddy, Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy and former MP Vara Prasad staged protests at the Gandhi statue here at the Parliament.
Speaking on the occasion, Vijayasai said it was hilarious to hear Chandrababu's claims of facing the disaster like the 'Vithalacharya'. He remarked that Chandrababu Naidu has not made an official request for SCS to the Centre till date. While he is boasting of the usage of technology in governance, Chandrababu did irrevocable damage to the State by not achieving the SCS and the special package, he added saying that the AP CM did not know the meaning of the word technology.
Vijayasai recalled Chandrababu betraying his father-in-law, late CM NT Rama Rao. At a time when the State was suffering from the devastation caused by cyclone Phethai, Chandrababu was busy distributing sweets to the guests at the swearing-in ceremonies in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, he asserted.
Former MP Vara Prasad said Chandrababu took up the subject of SCS only after the YSRCP pressurised his government. Leader of Opposition in AP Assembly and YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has been relentlessly fight for SCS whereas Chandrababu changed his stances like a Chameleon, he commented.
He said Chandrababu did not even write to the Centre for building the Duggarajapatnam Port even though the Centre was ready to release funds, to benefit a private Port belonging to his associates. Same is the case with Kadapa steel plant, he added.
The Rajya Sabha was adjourned to Friday after the Opposition members staged protests. YSRCP MPs Vijayasai Reddy and Prabhakar Reddy rushed to the House's Well to raise slogans for SCS.
