Kakinada: Castigating Chandrababu Naidu for his opportunist tendency and burying the Special Category Status (SCS) issue for his political gains, YSR Congress has said that the flip-flop policies of the State Government has pushed the state backwards stalling development on all fronts and reiterated that the Party would continue its fight on the issue.

‘It was a great betrayal on part of TDP which has aligned with NDA for over four years and had played down SCS issue and went to the extent of thwarting all the agitation programmes of YSRCP at various forums even as BJP-TDP and Jana Sena had assured SCS during 2014 electioneering,’ Party leaders said as part of the Vanchana Pai Garjana programme organised by the district unit here on Friday.

Speaking on the occasion senior leaders, Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy, YV Subba Reddy, Vara Prasada Rao, Sajjala Ramaksihna Reddy, Mopidevi Venkata Ramana, Anam Ramnarayan Reddy and others said, ‘Suddenly, Chandrababu Naidu took a U-turn and started speaking in favour of SCS while it was he and his government, with two ministers in the Union Cabinet who never bothered about the status and accepted Special Package in lieu of SCS.

The TDP leadership has the dubious distinction of betraying the people of Andhra Pradesh on all counts and on either side. First he has said that SCS is needed for 15 years. After he came to power he underplayed it and said that there is no need for SCS and has tried to foil all our dharnas and deeksha across the state and we had taken the demand to the national capital even.

We have first introduced the no confidence motion against NDA for not according SCS and other issues mentioned in the State division Bill and our leader YS Jagan Mohan Reddy was in the forefront on various issues of public interest. Our Party MPs had resigned expressing dissent over the non-implementation of SCS while TDP did not share that point of view, they said.

Chandrababu Naidu has been changing colours and tunes to suit his personal gains as he has never bothered about public interest and has always played his personal interests ahead of everything helping only his coterie and its commercial activity.

When YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s popularity was soaring, TDP leadership could not tolerate it and had engineered an attempt on his life at Vizag airport but with the blessings of God and people he was saved to serve you and your interests, they said.
