Visakhapatnam: The Congress party's alliance with the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in Telangana is costing the Andhra Pradesh unit of the Congress dearly. Ever since the TDP joined hands with its political rival, several Congress leaders have openly expressed discontent. With the Congress-TDP alliance creating a new hullabaloo in the already weakened Congress, many a senior party leaders threatened to resign from the party.

In a latest development, former minister and senior Congress leader Balaraju, who was with the party since three decades, resigned officially. Currently serving as the District Pradesh Congress Committee (DCC) president, he had blatantly opposed the Congress-TDP alliance.

Balaraju worked as a minister for Tribal Affairs during late Dr.YS Rajasekhara Reddy, Rosaiah and Kiran Kumar Reddy governments. Meanwhile, reports suggest that the senior leader joined the Jana Sena party.
