Visakhapatnam:The Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed to probe the murder attempt on Leader of Opposition in Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, which took place in the VIP lounge of the Visakhapatnam airport on October 25, seems to be proceeding along predictable lines and is wrapping up its inquiry, it is learnt.

While the murderous attack on the YSRCP chief created a nationwide sensation, the SIT is getting ready to submit its report, as per a pre-determined script, according to sources.

The police, it is learnt is preparing the report as per the diktats of the political bosses in Andhra Pradesh. The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) in its preliminary probe, had come to the conclusion that there is a clear-cut conspiracy behind the murder attempt on YS Jagan. National political parties have also said that there is something deeply suspicious and fishy behind this murderous attack on the YSRCP chief and have been supportive of the YSRCP stand for an independent probe.

The Andhra Pradesh state government and its police machinery, however have been trying to dilute the inquiry from the very minute that the murder attempt took place on the YSRCP chief in the VIP lounge of the Visakhapatnam airport last Thursday.

By forming a Special Investigation Team (SIT), the government seems to be preparing the ground for burying the most critical angle of a deeper conspiracy behind the vicious attack. According to reliable sources, the SIT also seems to be succumbing to the pressure of the rulers of the day and is acting in accordance to their wishes. Police officials have pointed out with astonishment as to how the Chief Minister and the state director-general of police got into the act immediately to give a clear direction or misdirection, to the entire plot. This, in itself, is a reflection of the intention of the government, they pointed out, to lead the investigation away from the key point of a larger conspiracy behind the murder attempt on YS Jagan.

Analysts and observers have pointed out that Harshavardhan Prasad Choudary, the owner of Fusion Foods, the restaurant at the airport, where the attacker was an employee, is known to be a Telugu Desam party activist and is reportedly close to both Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and his son, Lokesh.

The TDP government is struggling to hide the elephant in the room. How did the attacker, Srinivasa Rao, who has a criminal history, obtain a no objection certificate from the local police for him to be eligible to work at the airport? Why is it that in the three months during which the YSRCP chief came to the Vizag airport twice a week, for the first time last Thursday, coffee was brought to him from the airport restaurant, at the time that Srinivasa Rao launched his vicious attack? Why is it that the Chief Minister and the director-general of Andhra Pradesh police spring into action trying to play down the seriousness of the incident and describing the attacker as a YSRCP follower and a frenzied fan of YS Jagan? How is it that a 10-11 page letter without any creases and folds surfaced suddenly from the pockets of the attacker? Analysts say that it is not difficult to connect all these dots, combined with the fact that the yellow media went on an overdrive trying to push the TDP line.

Given these circumstances, observers say that it is not difficult to predict the line that the SIT report would take. In all likelihood, it would say that the TDP leaders or political bosses at the helm of affairs, had no role in the murderous assault attack on the Leader of Opposition in Andhra Pradesh assembly, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. It is also likely to bury the deeper conspiracy underlying the incident, they say. It is very likely to conclude that the accused is not in a stable state of mind and that he had carried out this murder only to seek publicity, analysts point out, after studying the direction of the inquiry.
