Vizag Airport: Inset YS Jagan Mohan Reddy after the attack

Visakhapatnam: Along with a Special Investigation Team (SIT) constituted by the Chandrababu Naidu government to inquire into the murder attempt on the Leader of Opposition and YSR Congress party president, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, which took place in the Vizag Airport lounge on Thursday, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) is also conducting its own investigation on the security lapse. The airport is under the supervision of the Eastern Naval Command (ENC) and the CISF takes care of the security checks in Airport. The CISF conducted its investigation into the serious lapse in security in the VIP lounge in the Airport. The central force says that it was very likely that the attack was plotted in the Fusion Foods restaurant itself and that the accused might have zeroed in on the airport as the place to launch his attack, considering YS Jagan usually left for Hyderabad from the airport during the course of his mass contact programme, Praja Sankalpa Yatra.

The CISF also questioned as to why the accused who was working in the restaurant for the last eight months never attempted to meet YS Jagan Mohan Reddy who was frequenting the airport on his earlier trips. If he was a YS Jagan fan as he claimed, he should have attempted to meet him in the first go. Why did he choose the 25th of October as a date to go meet him?

The CISF is also looking into the 11-page letter the accused had with him. The police would immediately seize anything on the person of the accused after the attack, but why did the police not search him properly at the time of questioning him. An official of the Airports Authority of India said that he just saw a single piece of paper, but how did a 11- page letter make its appearance overnight and find its way into the hands of the police, they asked.

The YSR Congress party chief has been coming to the Vizag airport for almost three months as he is travelling to Vizianagaram, Srikakulam and East Godavari districts as part of his Praja Sankalpa Yatra. He would have come to the airport more than twenty times in these three months. The CISF are concluding that since there was a waiting time when he had to fly back to Hyderabad, many people and fans would come to meet him and take selfies and he would oblige them. Noticing this, the accused would have plotted the attack in the airport as it would be easy to get close to him, but why did he select 25th to put his evil plan into action? The accused may have thought that YS Jagan might probably not come again if the Padayatra schedule gets over and so as to not to miss the chance would have attacked him that day, is what the CISF officials conclude.
