Minister in the caretaker Telangana government, Etela Rajender said that values in politics had hit rock bottom as exemplied by the attack on AP Leader Of Opposition, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy's life at Visakhapatnam airport on Thursday. The caretaker minister was speaking at a function in Jammikunta in which he condemned the attack on the YSRCP chief. Etela expressed his anguish at the fact that the attack on YS Jagan took place at a time when his popularity among the people of the state soared sky-high and when he was amidst the masses all the time. Terming the incident as a heinous act, Etela said that political leaders were particularly vulnerable because they were with their supporters, followers and well wishers and at times it becomes difficult to separate friend from foe.

Etela Rajender expressed his shock at the fact that a popular mass leader like YSR Congress Party president, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy who was committed to serving the people of the state through his mass contact initiative Praja Sankalpa Yatra was attacked in this cowardly fashion. The caretaker minister made a pointed reference to the fact that security levels were low at airports and that politicians and VIPs were particularly vulnerable.

The attempt on the YSRCP president's life is a savage act and the perpetrators of this crime should be sternly punished, Etela added. He demanded a special commission of Inquiry to probe the attack and expose the conspirators behind this dastardly crime.
