East Godavari: The YSR Congress party's (YSRCP) rank and file in the district was furious after the murder attempt on Leader of Opposition in Andhra Pradesh Assembly YS Jagan Mohan Reddy who was injured in his left shoulder severely. With an intention to kill the YSRCP Chief, a canteen worker in the Visakhapatnam Airport, Srinivasa Rao approached YS Jagan in the name of taking a selfie with him and lunged at him with a sharp knife aiming at his neck. The mass leader had a providential escape as he turned to his right, but the knife pierced his left shoulder causing a deep gash.

The district's YSRCP cadre was disturbed after coming to know of the cowardly attack on YS Jagan's life.

Protesting against the State government's failure in the incident, YSRCP workers gathered on the roads across the district. Raising slogans against the State government and Chandrababu, several protests, rasta-rokos and dharnas were carried out across the district.

The locals, on the other side, expressed their fury against the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leaders for trying to project Janipalli Srinivasa Rao, who stabbed YS Jagan with the knife, as a close associate and follower of the YSRCP Chief. In the context of their narrative that Srinivasa Rao is a YS Jagan follower, the TDP leaders reached his home in Thanelanka Village in Mummidivaram mandal in the district and tried to pose to the media as if they were local TDP leaders.

The conspiracy behind their narrative was exposed when they tried to indulge in the media interviews with the family members of the accused. During the media chit-chat, the TDP leaders said that Srinivasa Rao was a follower of YS Jagan. While it was all evident in front of the villagers, the TDP leaders tried to brand the accused as a YS Jagan follower.

TDP Mind Game

Srinivasa Rao, a worker in Fusion Foods in the airport, belonging to a TDP leader Harshvardhan, does not possess primary membership in the YSR Congress party and details of his participation in any of the party activities were not found. When YS Jagan recently toured Mummidivaram for three days, thousands of people took selfies with him but Srinivasa Rao did not participate in the padayatra. The locals in the mandal argue that the culprit would have attended the padayatra for at least one day if he really was a YS Jagan follower. They condemned the TDP's scripted act of trying to project Srinivasa Rao as a YS Jagan fan by sharing morphed pictures on WhatsApp.

Srinivasa Rao And Father Experts In Cock Fights

Srinivasa Rao's father Tata Rao is a specialist in tying knives to the cocks during the Sankranti cock fights. In Mummidivaram, which is famous for its cock fights in the district, both Srinivasa Rao and Tata Rao are known for their prowess in tying knives to the cocks. Locals explain that the TDP leaders approach the father-son duo during the cock fights.
