Visakhapatnam: The IT Department raids in Andhra Pradesh continues as the Income Tax sleuths landed in the city of Visakhapatnam this morning. According to reports, more than 50 vehicles from the Assistant Directorate of Income Tax at MVP Colony have reached several locations across Visakhapatnam where the officials are conducting surprise raids.

Income Tax department officials are checking the godowns in Duvvada SEZs and also searching the offices of a large multinational logistics firm, TGI which apparently belongs to a relative of the TDP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Devender Goud and AP Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu's close confidante.

The IT dept is believed to have acted on a tip off on several discrepancies in the profits and accounts pertaining to exports of the company. The IT net is slowly spreading in the city of Visakhapatnam which is now becoming a hub for new companies and firms to set up offices and there is official information that they are evading tax, prompting the IT officials to conduct raids here.
