Hyderabad: Popular film critic and controversy's favourite child Kathi Mahesh today said he would like to contest for Lok Sabha in the 2019 elections. Addressing a meeting with Dalit association members in Ongole, he confessed to having plans to make an entry into politics in 2019.

Taking a dig at Jana Sena Chief Pawan Kalyan, Kathi Mahesh said Pawan should show proof for his claims that he had a threat to his life. He added that the voice of the Dalits would be crucial in 2019 elections and that he hoped the Dalits would be able to win in the elections.

In July this year, Kathi Mahesh was externed from Hyderabad for six months and was shifted to his native Chittoor for his objectionable comments on Ramayana leading to protests by devout Hindus.

"In the upcoming days, the Dalits should be in leadership roles. The Dalit community is lagging behind in politics. The brutal murder of Dalit youth Pranay is a case of honour killing and is a result of the discrimination against Dalits. Maruthi Rao hired terrorists to carry out Pranay's murder," he added.
