YSRCP Will Counter Chandrababu’s Hook-Or-Crook Poll Strategy

Beach Road, Visakhapatnam: My Padayatra today moved through Chinna Waltair, Pedda Waltair and Beach Road. Visakhapatnam is one of the fastest growing cities in Asia. There is no dearth of resources here and in fact, the city meets all the criteria to be called the commercial capital of the state. It is unfortunate that in such a city, I could not find anything worth being described as an accomplishment by this government in the last four and a half years of its rule.

We don’t find a single major industry coming up in Visakhapatnam in the last four and a half years. Worse, industries which had been functioning are shutting down. A young engineer, Satyanarayana, said that he had to migrate to a neighbouring state in search of livelihood, because the company he was working in—New Net, had been shut down. “If Chandrababu Naidu government’s claims of industries and investments to the state were true to the extent of even one per cent, we would not have had to meet this fate,” he lamented. The most unfortunate aspect of it all is that this government is more occupied with beach festivals and love festivals than the all-round development of Visakhapatnam!

Sarojini has been suffering from renal failure. She is forced to spend thousands of rupees on her medicines and treatment every month. She has been living in the hope that she would get a pension which would ease her situation to some extent. Her untiring effort to try and get a pension sanctioned, proved fruitless. Thousands of such cases puncture the claims of Chandrababu Naidu and other Telugu Desam leaders who brag that all those suffering from kidney ailments are being given a pension! The reality on the ground is that only a few such kidney patients are getting a pension which is being trumpeted with such fanfare! One wonders whether these leaders suffer from something called “pangs of guilt”!

At a major YSR Congress party convention today, we held important discussions on the preparatory aspects in the run-up to the elections. The meeting holds great significance to draw up a strategy and give a direction to our plans. I emphasised on the need to focus on Navarathnalu and propagate their importance in YSRCP’s scheme of things. This message should reach every household in the state through extensive campaigning and canvassing, I stressed. This is the only way one can counter money power which will be used in a big way by the ruling party, I reminded everybody present at the convention.

Thousands of names of voters have disappeared from electoral rolls in a constituency. All of them incidentally, are YSR Congress party supporters. Thousands of other fake voters have appeared in the electoral rolls. This was brought to my notice along with evidence. Having lost the confidence of the people, Chandrababu Naidu is resorting to such desperate means. He is trying to get to power by hook or crook. I told the party cadre and leaders to be vigilant and emphasized that democracy would triumph in the end in spite of all such diabolical methods.

I have a question for the chief minister—you repeatedly claimed that your election promises have been fulfilled and that 90% of the people are happy with your rule. If this is indeed true, where is the need to delete the names of YSR Congress party voters and supporters in many constituencies from electoral rolls and fill the list with names of fake voters?
