Vijayawada: The YSR Congress party (YSRCP) MLAs, who had defected to the ruling Telugu Desam Party (TDP), would not be given the TDP tickets to contest in the upcoming elections by Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu, official spokesperson of the YSRCP Amabati Rambabu predicted. Speaking to media here at the party's office in the context of the ongoing Andhra Pradesh Monsoon Assembly session 2018, he said that the TDP supremo would choose winning candidates, not the ones who shift loyalties for money. Adding that Chandrababu Naidu gave ministerial posts to the defected MLAs, the YSRCP leader remarked that Speaker Kodela Sivaprasad Rao insulted the Chair of the Speaker. Why is it that Jana Sena Chief Pawan Kalyan is silent on the issue of defected MLAs? he asked.

Ambati said that the defected MLAs, who had abused YSRCP Chief and Leader of Opposition in the Assembly YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, would abuse TDP Chief Chandrababu Naidu when he deprives them of the TDP tickets. "The YSRCP would not backtrack on the issue of elections. While Telangana CM K Chandrashekar Rao courageously took the decision to dissolve the Assembly, Chandrababu is fearing defeat," he added.

The YSRCP leader announced that under the leadership of YSRCP Chief YS Jagan, the party's Assembly constituency coordinators from the 175 constituencies across the State, and the 25 Parliamentary constituency Incharges, along with senior party leaders, would convene a meeting at Visakhapatnam on September 11.
