Vijayawada: Recollecting the services of late Chief Minister Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy (YSR) on the occasion of his 9th death anniversary tomorrow, YSR Congress party (YSRCP) official spokesperson Ambati Rambabu said that Dr YSR was the pioneer of social welfare schemes. He said that Dr YSR will always be remembered for his unmatched development during Rajanna Rajyam.
Speaking to media here at party's State office, Ambati said that Dr YSR was the first CM to have brought in exclusive welfare schemes for the minorities, and that his death was a historical tragedy. Members of the Muslim community will always remember Dr YSR with the slogan 'YSR Hamara,' he added.
"Dr YSR should be credited for getting all approvals and permissions for the Polavaram project. Crores of people were extremely saddened by the death of Dr YSR and many of them lost their lives in pain," he observed. Ambati called on the party ranks to conduct the death anniversary program across the State.
Reacting to the arrest of Muslim youth for protesting demanding implementation of poll promises in Chandrababu's 'Nara Hamara TDP Hamara' meeting, the YSRCP leader questioned if we were living in a democratic country. "How is it fair to arrest the ones who demand their rights? Isn't Chandrababu a traitor of Muslims? Did he not befriend the BJP?" he questioned.
