Amaravati: YSR Congress Party farmers' wing president MVS Nagi Reddy expressed concern over the status of the farm sector in Andhra Pradesh and said that farmers were in severe distress. He called upon the ruling TDP government to come to the rescue of farmers, especially when they are affected by natural calamities.

Speaking to media at the YSRCP office here today, Nagi Reddy said despite the agricultural sector in severe problems, the government was not bothered to announce the drought-affected mandals in the state. Six districts were facing severe drought, while other districts were reeling under floods. Referring to NABARD report, he pointed out that the report has rated AP at the bottom with regard to agriculture.

He further said that it was unfortunate that the AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu was not considering the ground reality about the status of agriculture, and instead was making an aerial survey. He said that aerial survey would not be of any use, Chandrababu would understand the reality only when we meets people.

Nagi Reddy said that Chandrababu and the state agriculture minister were coming up with false reports and portraying a wrong picture of the agriculture. The AP CM was more interested in forging an alliance with Congress than anything else and was not concerned about the farmers' plight, he added.
