In an open letter, Leader of Opposition in Andhra Pradesh legislative assembly and YSR Congress Party President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy lashed out at Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu for conspiring to include the name of his wife YS Bharathi in the chargesheet pertaining to an illegal assets case that was filed exactly seven years ago.
Launching a scathing attack against select media houses that carried news of the chargesheet, YS Jagan said that Chandrababu was resorting to cheap ways to save face in the upcoming elections.
"On August 10, 2011, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and Congress leaders united to file a case against me. Today, exactly seven years later, to the utter shock of me and my wife, I had to learn about her inclusion in the chargesheet through select newspapers. How can the media houses report the news even before the Judge's consideration? How could they access the Enforcement Directorate's information before even we knew about it? Who has such vicious enmity towards me and my family?" YS Jagan demanded to know.
The YSRCP Chief said that two officers from the ED, Umashanker Goud and Gandhi, who were involved in preparing the report, have always been Chandrababu's confidantes. He observed that in a highly unusual manner, Gandhi's tenure in the ED was extended thrice. "Why is it that Chandrababu is indulging in cheap politics by manipulating the democratic system?" he said.
By colluding with both the BJP and the Congress parties and controlling the system, Chandrababu wishes to contest the upcoming elections, he said. In a recent Parliament session, Union Minister Rajnath Singh said that BJP's friendship with Chandrababu will exist forever.
On the other side, Chandrababu's cases would not be investigated, although the ED issued summons, the Leader of Opposition observed. Since nine years, YSRCP has been waging a relentless fight for the welfare of the people. Back then, I fought for Samaikyandhra, and now, I am pitching for Special Category Status, YS Jagan said in hia letter, addressing the people of Andhra Pradesh and all citizens of India who believe in the democratic spirit of India.
