YSR Kadapa: In yet another case of infighting in the ruling Telugu Desam Party (TDP), the battle for domination in Proddutur constituency is getting intensified withing the party, in the lead up to the 2019 elections. Five-time MLA from Proddutur, Varadarajulu Reddy's attempts to attain a stronghold in the constituency suggest that he is in the forefront among the eligible candidates for the TDP MLA ticket from the constituency. According to political analysts, the former MLA's political activities since 2014 suggest he would be considered for contesting in the upcoming elections, over 2009-14 MLA Linga Reddy.

However, Varadarajulu has a rival within the party in the form of Rajya Sabha member CM Ramesh, who on several occasions tried to showcase himself as the sole face of TDP in Proddutur. In a recent party meeting, the two leaders had differences of opinion over grants in the municipality. The two leaders, with two separate cadres for themselves, are in a fight over allotting the grant to their respective cadres.

When CM Ramesh convened a review meeting in the constituency recently, Varadarajulu's men tried to obstruct the meeting by creating ruckus over the grant. But, these kind of political infighting are nothing new in the party here. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu was the one who initiated the political monopoly in the district. While the then YSRCP MP Avinash Reddy was addressing a meeting in Pulivendula, the CM obstructed his speech in an undemocratic manner.

While no cases have been filed against the likes of Varadarajulu for disturbing law and order, on the other hand, opposition party leaders are booked under various cases for carrying out small protests.

Recently, Vemula mandal MPP Usharani carried out a protest along with the victims of pollution emulated from Tummalapalle Uranium Project Of UCIL. The MPP has been booked under various cases, for fighting for the people's welfare.
