Amaravati: Communist Party of India (Marxist) Andhra Pradesh state Secretary P. Madhu demanded the state government stop forcibly acquiring lands in the name of building the capital city. Speaking at a meeting with the local farmers from Undavalli in Thadepalli mandal, the CPM leader alleged that the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) government was suppressing poor farmers who were fighting for justice. He further demanded that Chandrababu withdraw the bill amending the provisions of the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013, which is against the interests of the farmers.

On November 20, 2014, the TDP government hurt farmers' interests, by amending the provisions in the Land Acquisition Act 2013, which was passed in the Parliament. "CPM always stands by the farmers and if Chandrababu continues to harass the farmers, we will wage a war against the government," the CPM Secretary said.

The TDP passed the amendment bill in an undemocratic fashion when the opposition boycotted the Assembly, Madhu added.
