Andhra industry body concerned over problems in carrying cash

An industry body in Andhra Pradesh has complained to the election authorities about the problems faced by the businessmen due to search and seizure of cash in view of the ensuing elections.

The Federation of Andhra Pradesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FAPCCI) brought to the notice of the authorities difficulties faced by the businessmen and traders.

Police have so far seized about Rs.50 crore unaccounted cash across the state since the poll schedule was announced by the Election Commission early this month. This is said to be the highest amount seized in any state.

The authorities had seized Rs.36 crore during the campaigning for 2009 elections.

A delegation of FAPCCI met Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Bhanwarlal. It pointed out that for several day to day business transactions, businessmen carry cash either to pay the customers or suppliers or to deposit in banks.

The delegation led by FAPCCI vice president Anil Reddy Vennam requested for devising a methodology wherein genuine transaction of cash in the normal and routine practice in business does not get affected.

Bhanwarlal assured that a separate cell and toll free number will be set up to resolve this problem. He suggested for carrying relevant documents for hassle-free movement of business transactions.
