Hyderabad: Instead of taking them to hospital for treatment, a paramedic of an ambulance dumped two injured English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU) girl students midway on their way to hospital and told them to take an autorikshaw.

The two EFLU students Ann Alex from Kerala and Akshi Singh from Maharashtra got injured when their bike skidded at Habsiguda while they were returning to the university after having dinner on Thursday evening. After a traffic constable helped them and called 108 for ambulance both the girls got into the ambulance with their common friend B. Ajeesh who was also informed about the accident.

After the vehicle moved to some distance, the paramedic in the ambulance, after giving a first aid to the injured students, told them to get down the from the vehicle saying they were not injured seriously and were ok. When the students who received some serious injuries on their head and legs requested to take them to hospital, he rudely replied that take an auto to hospital, said the students.

“When we asked the ambulance in-charge to drop us at least at our university back, he did not bother to oblige,” said the girls. Their friend Ajeesh said, “Ann was riding the pillion and had hit her head on the road and was dizzy while Akshi feared that she had suffered a fracture in the leg. She had also small pieces of her glasses stuck in her face as it was shattered in the mishap.”

To their dismay, the ambulance staff told them that they could do whatever they want when the Ajeesh took a photo of number of the ambulance. Meanwhile, a 108 emergency services official declared that the paramedic in ambulance is not supposed to dump any injured person midway. We will take action if the victims lodge a complaint, he said.
