There is alround criticism of the shameful treatment of woman MLA from YSRCP RK Roja who had come to attend the National Women’s Parliament on an invite. The YSRCP had condemned the incident and said the Government is targeting RK Roja. Here are the reactions to the ill-treatment of Roja:
RK Roja is a member of one of the committees of the National Women’s Parliament. She has been invited by the speaker himself. Yet,she is taken away by the police. This is shocking. Are we living in a democracy? Why is the Government so afraid of Roja? Why is the Government feeling so insecure?
Buggana Rajendranath, Public Accounts Committee chairperson
We strongly condemn the arrest. She has come here to attend theNational Women’s Parliament on the invitation of the Speaker. We will take up the issue with the DGP.
Jogi Ramesh, YSRCP spokesperson
If Roja is not released immediately, the Government will have to pay a heavy price. This is an attack on womanfolk and womanhood itself.
K Parthasarathy, YSRCP spokesperson
Arresting Roja is illegal and unacceptable. She should be released immediately and be allowed to take part in the National Women’s Parliament.
Gudivada Gurunath Reddy, former MLA
This government is more interested in event management. It has committment towards women empowerment. Illegal detaining and shifting of MLA RK Roja proves this.
Varudu Kalyani, YSRCP women wing
Preventing Roja from attending the National Women’s Parliament is not only illegal, but also unethical. This shows TDP Government's attitude towards women. The Governor should intervene and ensure that Roja takes part in the meet.
Kakani Govardhan Reddy, YSRCP Nellore president
