Alert home guard foils prisoner's bid to flee Yanam jail

10 miscreants from Pondicherry hatch a plan to help a prisoner escape from Yanam sub jail in East Godavari district. Their misfortune- an alert home guard foil their attempt.

According to reports, 8 people entered the jail from the back gate with the help of a rope while two others waited outside to keep a watch for any passerby.

The home guard who was on duty at the jail, alerted the police who later chased the 8 people.

The two others waiting outside fled the spot, but police managed to apprehend them too.
There are two theories doing the rounds on their intention to break into the prison -
One, to help Manikanta, who's been jailed for the last one year to escape
Two, to kill Manikanta

Police interrogated all the 10 culprits. They are yet to announce the details.
