Agri-Tech Park To Come Up At Zaheerabad

Telangana government is mulling to establish an Agri-Tech Park that is being planned to be roll out in a 750-acre campus at Zaheerabad this year.

The Agri-Tech Park is being planned as a collaborated initiative of the state government and Research and Innovation Circle of Hyderabad (RICH). It is learnt that in the last one year alone, RICH helped 25 start-ups and facilitated 10 business partnerships. It is now looking to broaden its operations.

Ajit Rangnekar, RICH Director General, speaking at the first anniversary her today, said that efforts were on to launch the park this year itself and it will have a demo centre for farmers as well as firms involved in making farming more productive and remunerative. The site for locating the park is not yet identified and in all probability it could be in Zaheerabad.

In an effort to unlock the national treasure, RICH was conceived by the state government to build an ecosystem for research to market, bringing together a collaborative network of research and academic institutions, scientists and others. This has been draw conducting 250 interviews over the last one year to understand the needs of startups and firms.

Among many other facilities, the collaboration also intends to create a regulatory guidance cell, an advisory board, and a directory of resources for convenience of the startups, Rangnekar added.

Industries and IT Minister KT Rama Rao said he wants RICH to not remain confined to Telangana but make its presence felt across the country. “The state government will extend all the support, including resources for RICH to come up with more innovative ideas and assist startups and firms launch their operations,” he said.
