An aged couple, identified as Ganga Reddy (50) and Sridevi Reddy (45), hailing from Dharmavaram in Ananthpur district ended their life near Panchmukhi Ganesh temple, about 2 kms from Shiridi, by consuming poison, the police said.
The couple is believed to have taken the step after they were shocked by the sudden death of their 21-year-old daughter Navya Reddy, studying in a Bengaluru-based engineering college, their relative Sudhakar Reddy said.
Ganga Reddy and his wife were staying at Shirdi since a long time due to frustration, he said.
The couple took darshan of Lord Ganesha yesterday, after which they were both found dead 150 metres away from the temple, behind a tree, temple manager Suresh said. Sridevi Reddy's five tolas of gold ornaments were also found intact, Kurigaon village sarpanch Babasaheb Dange told Shirdi police.
