Jaitley’s first full-fledged budget:

ACHIEVEMENTS IN NINE MONTHS:

• We conquered inflation, major achievement of our government, Inflation will be at just 5 per cent by the end of the year.
•  We have lived up people's trust, GDP in 2015 is seen at 7.4%
•  The rupee has become stronger by 6.4 %: Arun Jaitley

•   50 lakh toilet already built, 6 crore toilet targeted
•   Roof for each family in India, to fulfill housing by 2022
•   12.5 crore bank accounts opened as part of Jan Dhan Yojana

MAJOR CHALLENGES:

•  Eastern and northeastern parts of the country are lagging behind in many parts
•  Increasing investment in infrastructure is a challenge
•  Agriculture incomes are under stress; public investment needs to step in to catalyse investment
• Increasing agricultural production; increasing investment in infrastructure; with manufacturing declining
