ACB books more cases this year

Hyderabad: The graft cases seems to be on rise in Hyderabad despite stringent action.

Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) records reveal as many as 44 cases of corruption were recorded till December 11 this year as against 37 cases during the same period last year.

Majority of the cases were against government officials pertaining to departments of education, municipal works and electricity. 

Most cases pertained to the officials seeking bribes either for issuing certificates or for clearing the bills. The GHMC topped the list with most number of cases.
Apart from education department and GHMC, ACB sleuth also successfully trapped a senior divisional engineer in a DA case, along with assistant engineers and linemen for their role of demanding money for processing the work quickly.
There were some high profile cases too.TDP MLA Revanth Reddy was caught red-handed while giving bribe to TRS MLA Stephenson in the cash for vote scam. Former NIMS director Dr A Dharma Rakshak and three others were booked for irregularities while purchasing the medical equipment during his tenure in 2015.
ACB DG AK Khan said that in the coming year a new website would be launched and they would also open accounts on social media to enable people to register their complaints online.
