Sarojanamma, the mother of five sons who had abandoned her after taking away her property post her husband’s death, died on second day of her fast.

Khammam: In what is being seen as a blot on humanity, five middle aged sons abandoned their 80-year-old mother mercilessly and the octogenarian mother was forced to fast only to get her sons’ love. Worse, the mother of five, who are well settled, was not even taken care of by any one of them and breathed her last in a pitiable condition in front of gram panchayat on the second day of fast in her village on Thursday.

The heart-rending incident took place at Mondikunta village in Khammam district on Thursday evening.

Sarojanamma launched a fast on Wednesday to get her sons’ attention. They had taken away her 10 acre agricultural land after her husband’s death and she was thrown into the streets.
