Aanam Brothers Quit Congress to Join TDP

Vijayawada: The Congress suffered yet another set back in Andhra Pradesh with two of its senior leaders from Nellore - Aanam Ramnarayan Reddy and Aanam Vivekananda Reddy - leaving the party to join the ruling Telugu Desam Party on Wednesday.

"As the party is not mature enough to review and correct the wrongs done to Andhra Pradesh with the bifurcation, we decided to leave the party and are joining TDP as we have total confidence in the leadership of Chandrababu Naidu who only can develop the state amidst so many adverse conditions," the famed Aanam brothers declared while accepting the TD's invitation. Chief minister and party president Chandrababu Naidu himself offered them the yellow Kanduva in Vijayawada.

Speaking to media, Reddy said Congress leaders contested the elections only to save the party's prestige, despite being aware that they were going to lose deposits. The state is left with no capital to rule from, no industries to provide jobs to the youth and an entire generation was affected due to bifurcation, Reddy said adding that Chandrababu Naidu is the only leader who can lead the state to progress in this crisis. However, we are not expecting any positions in the government, they clarified.
