8 Engg students turn thieves for quick buck

The Kakinada police on Monday arrested eight engineering students for reportedly being involved in thieving two-wheelers and gold chains.

According to reports, the B Tech graduates, who wanted to make quick money, had become thieves.

They sold the stolen vehicles to raise money  to support their lavish lifestyle. They are all in mid-20s and are from rural areas around Vizag and Kakinada. Following complaints of the rising thefts, the Kakindada police kept a watch on the movements of suspicious persons and nabbed the engineering students.

The police recovered 13 bikes and several gold chains from the students-turned-thieves. Two students were already booked in connection with theft cases in the past and while remaining six said to be new to the filed.

Police gave them counselling and are likely to produce them before the court on Monday.
