4-year-old Girl Abandoned By Parents Dies of Beating By Neighbour For Bed Wetting

Hyderabad: A 4-year-old girl in Ramnagar area died while undergoing treatment at Gandhi Hospital at Musheerabad after she was beaten up by a woman for urinating in sleep at her house.

The mother of the girl said Manasa died of a head injury while the locals alleged that the girl succumbed to the severe injuries after she was beaten up by her mother’s friend for bed wetting.

Police said, Venkatesh and Pallavi have been living with their daughter Manasa ,(4), and Teja,(1) in a rented house at Parsigutta and working at a function hall in Musheerabad Division where another couple Munneru and Laxmi are also working but living at fish market at Ramnagar in a rented house.

All the four adults are addicted to alcohol. Pallavi, who drinks daily at toddy shop, used to leave her daughter Manasa at Munneeru and Laxmi’s place daily and goes to work. Locals said she used to be very neglect towards her daughter by leaving the kid away from her even for a week at times.

On Thursday, Pallavi left her daughter in the house of Laxmi and Munneru who told the latter that Manasa fell off the steps on Friday and received a serious head injury. Then all the four brought the kid to Gandhi Hospital where she succumbed to the injuries while undergoing the treatment on Monday. On the same night, Manasa was buried at Parsigutta cemetery.

However, the locals alleged that they saw Laxmi beating Manasa severely with a broom for urinating in sleep and the kid died of the injuries only. A woman from the neighbourhood told police, “I saw Laxmi on Friday morning beating the girl cruelly with a broom after dragging her onto the top of the steps for urinating in bed during sleep. Another local woman Kamalamma, who feared of the girl would be killed, said that she also tried to thwart Laxmi from beating the kid but in vain.

Meanwhile, the mother of the girl Pallavi had a fight with the locals refuting the allegations on Laxmi and moreover, she, conversely, questioned the locals that ‘what was the problem to them if her daughter died.’ No case has not been filed by police yet.
