28 suspects picked up in special drive by Cyberabad cops

Hyderabad: Cyberabad Police on Sunday picked up 28 suspects for questioning during a massive cordon and search operation, aimed at keeping a check on anti-social elements, under Alwal police station limits in Hyderabad.

Around 350 personnel comprising different wings of police, led by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Malkajgiri Zone) Rama Rajeswari R and other senior police officers carried out the operation at Anjaiah Nagar in the early hours of on Sunday as part of an endeavor to make the city safe through preventive policing in urban neighborhood.

28 suspects were apprehended for further inquiry including two long-absconding persons who escaped warrants, the DCP said, adding that 51 two-wheelers were seized through due procedure as the claimants had absolutely no proof to support their claims.

The cordon and search operation was deemed necessary in this area as most of the migrant labourers from North and North-Eastern states stay without any valid identity proofs and tenant verification process by house owners is nil, she said.

This area is increasingly becoming a shelter point for property offenders and anti-social elements, the senior police officer said.
