200-year-old palm leaf manuscripts traced

About two-century-old palm leaf Telugu manuscripts have been found in Prakasam district.

Jyothy Chandramouli, a historian of Prakasam district, on Sunday noticed four palm leaf manuscripts which were in possession of Brahmaiah, a member of Kadiyam family at Bathulavaripalem in Addanki mandal.

The manuscripts procured by Chandramouli are believed to be stories of 13th century. They depicted stories of Katamraju with titles like Dhanadulakonda, Bongarala aata, Cow grazing in Srisailam Nallamala forest, Poluraju katha and Kari Avula Raju katha. Chandramouli said he would study the manuscripts and prepare a reproduce for them.
