2 groups clash, 20 injured in Anantapur

Anantapur: Tension gripped in Kistapadu village of Peddavadaguru in Anatapur district on Wednesday as two groups clashed during a religious ritual.

As per reports, the groups clashed with sticks and pelted stones at each other. Police rushed to the spot and  resorted to lathi-charge to bring the situation under control. The mob pelted stones on the police. 20 persons, including three police constables, were injured.

Police fired in the air to disperse the mob. When DSP, CI, SI tried to reach the spot, the villagers stooped them. Even the police jeep was vandalised.  Police have been deployed in large numbers to bring the situation under control. Currently the situation in the village is tense.
