Hyderabad: Two youths were killed in a road accident on Sunday morning while trying to escape a drunk-and-drive check at Langar Houz in the city.

The incident took place when the bike collided head on with a lorry as the rider tried to flee from the spot at a high speed. According to the police, the victims Rajesh and Srinivas, both were the natives of Budwel in Rangareddy district took alcohol and were riding a bike in the morning. The duo noticed the drunk and drive check at Langer Houz from a distance and tried escape. As the two were in drunken state they took wrong route to escape from the police and collided with a speeding lorry. Ramesh died on the spot and Srinivas succumbed to injuries while being shifted to a hospital.

The lorry driver was also in drunken state and he fled from the spot after the accident, police said. The bike of the deceased caught fire and was reduced to ashes after the collision, he added.

Police seized the lorry and sent the bodies for post-mortem.
