Hyderabad: Four engineering students were arrested on Wednesday for raping a 16-year-old girl in Ghatkesar.
The victim, a diploma student, was studying in the same college along with the accused, who went to a hookah parlor on November 2. The accused forced her to drink alcohol and smoke hookah. Later, the girl was taken to a room and Harish raped her, while the other three kept a watch outside the room. The girl was let off in the morning.
Malkajgiri ACP G Sandeep said, "Hookah parlor owner, Abbas, switched off the CCTV cameras and also erased a portion of the footage of the recordings at the parlor."
The girl informed about the incident to her father, who lives in a village, who lodged a complaint with the police. During investigation police found that the victim was raped. Girl's medical reports also confirmed it.
The accused have been identified as - Harish, Sameer, Hemanth and Ajay. Police have also arrested parlor owner Abbas.
A case under section 376 (rape) of the IPC and the Schedule Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act has been registered.
