16 Tons Of Ration Rice Seized In Hyderabad; Father, Son Held

Hyderabad: A man and his father were arrested on Monday by the South Zone Task Force for diverting the Public Distribution System rice. The task force officials along with the civil supplies officials raided Akber Travels garage and seized 16 tonnes of PDS rice.

Mohammed Arif (52) and his son Mohammed Imran carried out the process with the help of six other aides who are absconding. The duo have been transporting the PDS rice to Karnataka and Maharashtra and making profits. Task Force Additional DCP Shashidhar Raju said, "They used to store the rice at the Akber Travel garage on a rental basis and the owner used to comply as he was given his share of profit.

The seized vehicles and rice has been handed over to Bahadurpura police station.
