10 Indian Actresses Who Died Mysteriously
Sridevi is not the first Indian actress whose life ended in a sudden and tragic death. The Dubai Police has handed over the body to the family who will now fly the mortal remains back to India where scores of fans and celebrities are waiting to pay their final respects. The fans are trying hard to come to terms with the truth about her death.
Here's a list of celebrities whose deaths are shrouded in mystery:
1. Jiah Khan Death Mystery
Jiah made headlines with her bold role opposite mega star Amitabh Bachchan who played her love interest in the film Nishabd. The news of her untimely demise broke in 2013.
Allegedly depressed over her break-up with her boyfriend (she had reportedly undergone an abortion just before her death) with Sooraj Pancholi, Jiah committed suicide. Jiah’s mother alleged that Sooraj Pancholi is the culprit and he even attempted to kill the foetus. Even though Jiah left a suicide note, the case is still shrouded in mystery.
2. Divya Bharati Death Mystery
In 1993, the young Bollywood star died at the age of 23. At the peak of her stardom, this talented actress fell off her balcony, which left her fans in a state of shock. Rumors were afloat that it was a case of suicide and that strained relations with her mother could have pushed her to take the extreme step.
3. Pratyusha Banerjee Death Mystery
This small screen sensation allegedly committed suicide at her Mumbai residence in 2016. At the time of her death, parents and close friends of Pratyusha blamed her boyfriend Rahul Raj Singh for her untimely demise.
4. Silk Smitha Death Mystery
Silk Smitha came into limelight as 'an extra' in films initially. Slowly, she made a mark in the industry as an item girl. Her death shook the country as Silk Smitha was at the peak of her career at the time. Although some reports said she consumed poison others claim she hanged herself to death, it was not clear as to what led her to commit suicide in 1996. We saw a snapshot of her glamorous life after the release of 'The Dirty Picture' in which, Vidya Balan portrayed the life of the actress.
5. Nafisa Joseph Death Mystery
In 2014, at the age of 26, Nafisa Joseph committed suicide. The death of the popular TV actress, model and VJ, led to widespread speculation. Although the media reported that it was a suicide, surprisingly, her family did not believe that Nafisa hung herself in her apartment at Versova Link Road.
6. Parveen Babi Death Mystery
Parveen’s alleged obsession with her co-star Big B Amitabh Bachchan has not been explicit. On the contrary, her affair with Mahesh Bhatt and Kabir Bedi was always in the rumors.
She is believed to have suffered from paranoid schizophrenia and led to Parveen being mentally fragile.
7. Shikha Joshi Death Mystery
This “B. A. Pass” actress committed suicide by slitting her throat open at her flat in Versova, Mumbai. It is speculated that Shikha Joshi took the extreme step because of increasing frustration over not getting enough work in Bollywood.
8. Viveka Babajee Death Mystery
Viveka Babajee, one of India’s top models died a tragic death. She hung herself from the ceiling fan in her flat. It is suspected that a spat with her boyfriend pushed her to the edge.
9. Kuljeet Randhawa Death Mystery
Model-turned-actress Kuljeet Randhawa was found dead at her apartment. The actress was popular for her Sony serial C.A.T.S. She died in Juhu leaving a suicide note which stated that she was ending her life as she was failing to cope with the complexities of life.
10. Sridevi Death Mystery
The 54-year old actress was found dead in a bathtub at her hotel room in Dubai, where she had gone to attend the marriage along with her family. We are yet to know what really happened.
