1 lakh acres needed for AP capital : Ministers

“Andhra Pradesh government will acquire the land needed for building the capital within six months and will begin the capital construction works in an year,” said Member of Cabinet Sub-Committee on Capital P.Narayana.

Speaking to reporters in Hyderabad on Friday, he said that new capital would have Secretariat, High Court, headquarters of all departments and other key offices.

However, the minister was not forthcoming about the share that the farmers would get.

“We will decide the share after considering the area, cost incurred for developing it,” said the minister.

Speaking in the same press meet, IT Minister Palle Raghunatha Reddy said that the state government is considering to build the capital with modern facilities.

“We have decided to get the required land through land pooling. We have decided to acquire one lakh acres of land for the capital. 25,000 acres of land will be acquired in the first phase and another 25000 acres of land will be acquired in the second phase. We will acquire the land in the areas of Guntur, Tenali, Vijayawada and Mangalagiri,” said the minister.

“The capital would be created with the cooperation of farmers. The farmers too are happy as they can get more price than the present rate,” said Pullarao.
